Create a channel

Learn how to create channels in the Lynes app for effective communication.

Who can create a channel?

All users with the permission Users & Teams.

To create a channel, you first need a team. After that, you can choose between three different types of channels:

  • Channel – visible to everyone on the team, even those who are not invited.
  • Private channel – only visible to invited members.
  • One-way channel – used for news or information. Only selected members can write, others can react with emojis.

Create a channel

Step 1 – Open the app

  • Launch the Lynes app on your computer or mobile.

Step 2 – Go to organization or team

  • Click or tap the three-dot menu next to the organization name or team name.

Step 3 – Create channel

  • Select the Create Channel option.
  • Enter a name for the channel.
  • Select which users to invite.

Step 4 – Confirm

  • Click or tap Create.

Create a private channel

Step 1 – Follow the same steps as when creating a channel.

Step 2 – Make the channel private

  • Select the Private option.

Step 3 – Confirm

  • Click or tap Create.

Create a one-way channel

Step 1 – Follow the same steps as when creating a channel.

Step 2 – Go to advanced settings

  • Open advanced settings and select the One-way channel option.

Step 3 – Select permissions

  • Decide which members are allowed to post in the channel.
  • Others can only react with emojis if it is enabled.

Step 4 – Confirm

  • Click or tap Done.
  • Click or tap Create.

Advanced channel settings

  • Information box – Pin a message at the top of the channel and choose a color.
  • One-way channel – Only selected members can write, others can react with emojis.
  • Event notifications – Sends information when someone joins or leaves the channel (enabled by default).
  • Emoji responses – Allow members to quickly reply with emojis (enabled by default).
